My Massive Frank/Gerard Rec List!

Okay, so here is my rec list of 50 Frank/Gerard fics that you HAVE to read. They're not in a definitive order or anything, just 50 fics that I absolutely love. And seriously, there are so many great writers and fics that aren't on here, because it was getting ridiculously long, so I cut off at 50. But it just goes to show how much talent there is in Bandom :)

50. Three Cheers for Tyrannysilentdescant

Mafia AU. Loyalty – Respect – Honesty: values Frank takes to heart when he steps into position as Gerard Way's bodyguard and confidant.

I'm putting this on here because of how much it affected me. It's brilliantly written, but take heed of the warnings - I was a mess by the end. But if you aren't stupidly upset by character death like I am, then I'd definately give it a go.

49. Affairs of the Pocket -  sparkbyspark

Frank gets in a fight and has to work a thrift store doing community service. There, he meets his co-worker Elena's elusive grandson, Gerard Way.

Hands down, the best Elena characterisation I've ever read.

48. Now my feet can touch the groundagirlnamedfia

High-school AU. Frank Iero is the popular kid. Gerard Way is the arrogant artsy kid. Mrs. Cunshaw is the bitch who makes them work together. And how is Shakespeare involved?

I have such a weakness for fics where the characters start off hating each other and then build up a relationship. It may sound like a cliche storyline, but it's brilliantly executed.

47. Child's Playslashxyouxup

There are probably five playgrounds in the whole of New Jersey where it’s deemed safe to actually let your children play.

There will be quite a few kid!fics on this rec list, because I LOVE them, but this one is particularly good. Everything  slashxyouxup writes is awesome, but this one is probably my favourite of hers.

46. You Know That (is nothing new)rubytuesday5681

It’s five years in the future. The world is pretty much the same, only Frank and Gerard are just now meeting. Here is what Frank and Gerard’s lives might be like if there had never been any MCR. This is how they can find happiness in the mundane and find love with each other when they are brave enough to open their hearts and let the deepest wounds close up for good.

This fic is epic (seriously, over 100,000 words long) but so completely amazing that even if you don't like reading long fics you should try it out. I absolutely love the Gerard characterisation, and the whole thing is so well written - you really need to read it if you haven't already.

45. With dripping wings, heavy things won't flysilver_etoile

Gerard is in more than a mess when he is kicked out of Heaven, and the demon tracking him is certainly not helping him. Frank has a plan, though, and he needs the fallen angel for it to work. This is what happens when Heaven and Hell collide.

This is my all time favourite angels/demons fic. It has such a good storyline, and I love all the cameos by other bandom bands.

44. Crazy Mad for Himetben

The one where Frank and Gerard are train buddies

This fic is actually hilarious. I love how awkward Gerard is in it, and how it seems like it could TOTALLY happen in real life. It's awesome. Go read it.

43. In the Music of Timegreedy_dancer

This is the tale of Frank and the four Gerards, and of the afternoon that set everything in motion.

The reason I love this fic so much is that with the amount of sex that's in it it should probably be classed as a pwp - but it's more about the development of Gerard's character from when the band first started through to Danger Days (with lot's of sex on the side.) it's brilliant :)

42. Black Market Bloodautoschediastic

Frank's so fucking freaky he's potentially wigging out a fucking vampire.

I only read this last week, but I think it's amazing. I've never read a vampire fic quite like this. You should definately check it out.

41. Fantasy Bookcimorene

The one where Gerard gets sex pollened and him and Frank have lots of sex.

This fic somehow manages to combine ridiculously hot sex with really sweet confessions of love, in that order. It's.. gahh. I love it.

40. Against the Windtheopteryx

Frank is the tutor for the two young children of Michael and Alicia Way. He has always been sickly, but when he begins to fall seriously ill he tries to hide it from his employers, terrified he will lose his position and have nothing. When Michael’s older brother Gerard unexpectedly returns from the continent, however, his problems only grow.

theopteryx is one of my favourite Frerard writers out there (she crops up a lot on this list) and then combine that with a story about class difference AND Frank being sick and hiding it and I'm basically in fic heaven. Seriously, read it.

39. The Light from Our Bodies Precedes Us -  fleurdeliser and  mxtape

The second basement of Building Six at the Kennedy Space Center is not, Frank reminds himself, straightening his shoulders and stepping out of the elevator, one of the more intimidating offices in the NASA compound.

I can remember putting off reading this for ages, because I thought that MCR working at NASA just wouldn't work. And then I actually read it and fell in love with it. It's got one of my favourite Frank characterisations ever.

38. A Guided Tour of the October Countrynovembersmith

That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay.

I read this sotry first on Halloween, coincidently, which made it all the more magical. It's one of those fics that you just wish was longer, just so you could stay in that world for more time. It's amazing :)

37. Gerard Way, Porn Starmistresscurvy

I start with the question I've been wanting to ask for months. "Did you always want to become a world-famous porn star?"

I love this AU! The timeline is really well done, switching from the interview to the story and back again, and I love Frank and Gerard's relationship in it.

36. This Elevator only goes up to tenmxtape

Gerard doesn't want to get married.

I love Gerard in this, and how he has no idea what he's done to upset Frank, and why stating that he doesn't want to get married would offend him. The end scene is so sweet - I love it!

35. Promises, promises (Don't send me back in 30 days)silentdescant

“Sources on our investigative team say this was a bank robbery gone wrong, and that, when faced with a police task force surrounding the building, the suspect grabbed the nearest person and is now holding that young man at gunpoint as he makes his getaway.”

I'd never heard of Stockholm Syndrome before I read this, so it was really interesting to read. Definately creepy, and Gerard's character is really hard to get a read it, but that's what makes it so good. I've read it so many times, and it's just as good now as it was the first time.

34. A Matter of Logisticsbrooklinegirl

Frank would like to know the logistics of going down on girls. Gerard can help him with that.

This is, hands down, my all time favourite pwp. Frank's voice is hilarious, and i just love the whole thing.

33. Been Here Before tuesdaysgone

Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge took off faster than My Chemical Romance could have imagined. Gerard's downward spiral was even faster. He hit rock bottom, got sober, and moved across the country to Portland practically as soon as he'd detoxed, leaving his band and his relationship with Frank behind. Four years later, he's still clean. His graphic novel is a surprise smash hit. And he's avoided New Jersey until now. However, everything he left unresolved is still there. Gerard knows he needs forgiveness. When he sees Frank again, he realizes he needs much more than that.

This fic is FILLED with angst. I cry really easily, and I was on the verge of tears throughout the whole fic. It's amazing though, and well worth reading.

32. Any Place You'll Allow (Rogues and Queens)airgiodslv

It’s about three a.m. when the guy comes in, Frank guesses, because he’s just getting the itch for a cigarette but knows he doesn’t have another break coming for a while. The guy is young, although not that young, not a college kid on his first strip joint tour or hazing for a frat, and anyway he doesn’t look like the type.

He looks, more or less, like a regular guy, but he’s not a) balding, b) hugely overweight, or c) wearing anything that looks particularly grimy, which puts him light-years ahead of the last three guys Frank danced for.

He also looks a little lost, which is unofficially Frank’s specialty.

This is, again, an awesome multi-band fic. It's actually the sequel to a fic I haven't read, a Gabe/William, but I had no trouble understanding the story or anything. I love the Gerard in it - of course you would wander into a strip club at three in the morning because you thought it was a comic book store. Of course.

31. No Experience Necessaryladyfoxxx

Gerard accidentally lands a job at a pizza store and even though the pay is shit, the guys he works with are pretty cool. Soon he’s made all the friends he missed out on in high school and he actually has something to do on a Friday night. Everything's great until he realizes he’s got a hard-on for his cute punk workmate Frank, who is, in all likelihood, straight.

Featuring store-based pranks, a moshpit, a black eye, frosting licking, sex on a picnic table, an army of zombie pizza boys and gratuitous mentions of The Cake Of The Week.

I'm a huge fan of  ladyfoxxx and everything she's written, you should read. This fic is amazing - I love every single characterisation in it. It's definately one to read.

30. On the Midtown Direct mistresscurvy

Gerard Way has a system: a system for managing his life as a city architect, a system for being a single man living in a house in Jersey he still thinks of as his grandmother's and not his own, a system for finding one of the four solo seats in each car on the train into Manhattan every morning. He likes his system. It works.

His system derails when Frank Iero sits across from him on the 7:59 Midtown Direct one sunny morning in May.

A love story, one train ride at a time.

This is one of those stories when you know it's going to be good, just from reading the summary. And considering that a large majority of it takes place on a train, I couldn't put it down!

29. Skin of the Canvassinsense

I've always wondered why, when Gerard decided he wanted to save lives, he turned away from visual arts and started a band. This is an AU version of one answer. Gerard is still at SVA, having taken a while away to enter AA and get sober; Frank is a nude model and punk rocker who's moved to New York City. Romance (and sneezing!) ensues.

There is nothing negative at all about this fic, it's absolutely amazing. I love Gerard's character - and the fore-mentioned sneezing scene is one of the funniest I've ever read.

28. Stringsauctorial

Orchestra AU, set in a world where Bob Bryar is king. Frank, a newly graduated viola major, just landed a job with the Royal Philharmonic. Gerard is the orchestra's star violinist. Music brings them together, but they quickly discover that's not all they have in common. The more time Frank spends with Gerard, the closer he gets - until Mikey devises a plan to come between them, once and for all.

Talking from experience, this story captures everything that playing in an orchestra is about, and it's absolutely brilliant. Also, don't be put off by the 'implied Waycest" warning - I don't read Waycest, and I was fine reading it.

27. To Cast Turpentine Kissesciel_vert and  theopteryx

High school teacher/student AU not!fic. Vaguely INOK-ish, but Frank is a student and Gerard is his teacher. Pretty much this started as an email back and forth about all the dirty shit that teacher!Gerard should do to student!Frank and we assembled it into an order that makes sense. But it's not a real story, do not be fooled! It just looks like one. Capslock and emoticons and "and then THIS should happen"s galore.

This was both the first not!fic I ever read, and the first fic containing any sort of BSDM relationship. It's ridiculously dirty - but it's seriously amazing. I love it.

26. A Lovely Apparitionjezrana

Michael didn’t seem particularly shocked when Gerard approached him with the idea, but then, Gerard had never seen his younger brother look particularly shocked at anything. He merely looked at Gerard, blinked once or twice, and repeated in a flat tone, “You want me to help you dress up like a woman.”

“It’s the stays in particular I think I’ll need help with,” Gerard told him. “Well, and buttoning the dress, and perhaps the wig.”

I LOVE historical AUs, and  jezrana is the master of them. It also has some of the best pov changes that I've seen in a fic.

25. A Natural Reaction to Rough Housingbexless

He made it to the bathroom and stood there leaning heavily on the sink, staring at himself in the mirror. He didn’t look like a creepy sadist. But neither did Christian Bale, and that hadn’t ended well for anybody.

Everything that  bexless writes is amazing - but this one has one of my favourite Frank pov's. Plus, I love hurt/comfort fics, and this story is full of it.

24. King and Countrytabula_x_rasa

Today, they'd woken up and Gerard was king of Illyria.

Now that Gerard's exile is over and he's King, Frank can't even pretend to be a stableboy anymore. He has to survive court, keep Gerard from falling apart, and keep the Austrians from invading in his spare time. And somewhere along the way, Frank has to figure out who and what he is.

One of the reasons this fic is so good is that it starts where most stories of it's kind would end - Gerard and Frank are already in an established relationship. Plus, it's largely about class difference, which is one of my favourite things to read about.

23. I was your Silver Liningshoemaster and  theopteryx

"So what do you do?"

"I wait."

"You wait? Like what, tables?"

"I wait for you."

Werewolves, Gypsy magic, soul mates, reincarnation. And Gerard being a huge creeper.

I'm not sure why, but I was really reluctant to read this fic, especially considering that it's now one of my favourite werewolf stories. This fic needs to be read.

22. Creep in like a Whisperjezrana

Gerard and Mikey are wealthy land-owners, and Frank is a newly-attained slave with trust issues. They show him they're not like typical masters.

Okay, so I absolutely LOVE slavery!fics. And this one is my all time favourite.

21. This Never Happenedbexless

This is not a story. My thoughts on what would happen if Frank had to move in with the Ways for his senior year of high school do not constitute a story. It's ~in costume~ as a story. A twenty-eight and a half thousand word costume, because apparently even my badfic wolfshirt bullshit things are bafflingly long-winded.

One of my favourite high school AU's. It's FULL of pining - and also voyeurism and sleep-groping - and is completely ridiculous.. and brilliant. I love it. Read the sequel too!

20. Like a Horse and Carriage mwestbelle

Frank was raised wild, on a merchant vessel that sailed all around the world. When he returns home, an orphan, he is wed to a man with money and name that he has never met. A Victorian AU.

This is another one of those fics that I wish was longer, just so I could read about this verse forever. It's just... arranged marriages and class differences and historical and gahhh. <3 All of my favourite things.

19. A World so Smalljezrana

Victorian AU. When Frank, a sickly young man, is advised by his doctors to leave London for the country, he makes arrangements to stay with his friend Michael, who just so happens to be in possession of a large, old, and somewhat creepy manor house. What Frank has no idea of at the time is that Michael has an older brother, whose presence in the house he conceals. Gerard is an eccentric recluse who spends most of his time hiding in the attic and avoiding any kind of interaction with people, but he finds himself fascinated with Frank, who in turn realizes that the house has secrets, and becomes determined to uncover them. When he finally does discover Gerard, their first meeting is only the beginning of their story.

Another amazing historical AU by  jezrana. This one is probably my favourite of hers. You get so into this world - it's one of those stories that I've re-read and re-read, and it never gets old. Love it!

18. Something Betterlovelypoet

"We all have to take jobs we don't like sometimes, you know?"

I love this world. Frank makes the best nanny, and it has such a good Gerard characterisation. Plus, Gerard's child, Chloe, is completely adorable :')

17. Let the Compass Point You Homeamazonziti and  mistresscurvy

When Frank is taken by slave raiders, Jamia and Lindsey work together to find him and buy him back. After months of searching, they finally locate him, but their lives are complicated by his attachment to a fellow slave he can’t leave behind. Suddenly Jamia finds herself the owner of her husband, and Lindsey the owner of a man whom she’s never met before and who has no reason to trust her--and who has a secret of his own. Can the four of them learn to trust each other enough to put the past to rest and help Gerard find what he’s lost?

This is the only fic I've ever read that has a Lindsey pov, and I absolutely love it. All four characterisations are so well done - and surprisingly, the Lindsey/Gerard part was my favourite, which is weird, because i'm still not really comfortable reading het. I know a lot of people don't like reading wife!fic, but if you were going to read one - make it this one.

16. Strange Stepstheopteryx and  fleurdeliser

Gerard wanted nothing more than to make it through the rest of the senior year of high school unscathed. He was fine with being invisible. Really. The only real highlights of his life were hanging out with Ray, working on the comic book with Mikey, and weekly dance lessons with his grandma and all of her crazy old friends. But then Frank Iero (popular, pretty Frank Iero with his stupid hair and stupid sunglasses who didn't even remember that they had gym class together Freshman year when they were both awkward losers) showed up at the studio one day. And then wouldn't leave him alone. Apparently there was one thing Frank Iero wasn't good at - dancing. And he wanted Gerard to teach him. Gerard wasn't sure his life could get any worse, but, well, this was coming pretty damn close.

The concept of this fic is absolute genius. There are SO many thing that I love about it, that listing them would take too long, so basically - go read it.

15. MJ's not the only one with a man in the mirrordesert_neon

A Sliding Doors AU — In the autumn of 2005 in New York City, Gerard lives a mediocre life with Bert; they share a small apartment, but Gerard (sober for just over a year) pays for most of the expenses while Bert spends any spare money The Used make on alcohol and drugs. After a terrible morning, Gerard, dejected and depressed, finds himself standing in front of a bar. Tempted, he hesitates. Should he go in, give in, revert to the jobless loser he once was? Or should he move on, catch a train home? The choice he makes will impact his life in ways he can’t even imagine.

This is the story of two parallel universes, reflected in each other, but taking different lines. And ultimately proving that Gerard is the person he always is, with the same soul, no matter what life he’s living.

is so good at writing, and this fic is so cleverly done. I love Frank's character in this - and I actually prefer this ending to the one the film has. This story is seriously a must read.

14. (To Die Will Be) An Awfully Big Adventurepandarus

Gerard has always vaguely liked the idea of being a vampire, in much the same way he's always vaguely liked the idea of time travel, or of being a pirate - but it's only when he wakes up dead that he realises that not all his fans (or friends) are actually human. This is rather a shock to the system, but Gerard does his best to deal with the fact that he's now an undead American, and he's lucky enough to get a little help from an unexpected corner. Just as he thinks he's starting to get the hang of being a vampire, however, everything suddenly goes to hell in a handbasket, and before he knows it there are angry vampires slayers chasing him around LA, and an urgent appointment with the Fairy Queen looming before him...

This is my favourite supernatural AU. It's so well written and LONG and just.. I love it. (And don't be put off by the fact that Gerard/Lindsey is before Gerard/Frank in the pairing list - it's a Frank/Gerard fic. The Gerard/Lindsey is non graphic, and there's no conflict between them.)

13. Smokeless Flame of Firetabula_x_rasa

Frank blinked. "What kind of name for a genie is Gerard?"

Gerard is a genie. That alone should make you want to read it.

12. Cover to Cover silentdescant

You've Got Mail AU. Frank owns The Shop Around The Corner, which specializes in classic and rare books, and Gerard is opening up a large branch of Way Books & Café down the street. They meet online and fall in love.

I've never seen You've Got Mail - but this Au is brilliant. Again, I love it when Frank and Gerard start off hating each other, and in this fic their relationship is so slow building - Frank stays hating Gerard for a large majority of the story. It seems really realistic. I read this fic when i need cheering up.

11. Play Parks and Play Mateslittlblackghost

When Frank meets his best friend's older brother, he falls hard. Gerard is perfect, and so is his kid, so why can't things just work out for them?

This fic is amazing - it makes you laugh, it makes you cry. I love kid!fics, and this is probably my all time favourite one. Plus, Dexter, Gerard's little boy, is my absolute favourite original character in any story. If I have kids, I want mine to be like him <3

10. James Cameron Got it Wrong ladyfoxxx

In which 2005 Frank is seduced by his future self. Then the really weird shit starts.

"Gerard." Frank warns, raising his voice. "Tell me. What the fuck happened?"

"Don't you get it? The machine." Gerard stares at him, eyes wide and manic. "It brought back the wrong Frank."

"I'm in the future?" Frank asks, already knowing the answer, but needing to fucking hear it, goddamnit. He steps closer to the red-haired Gerard. "Gee, what year is it?"

"It's 2019."

This fic, and it's prequel, are genius. of course if Gerard and Frank had a time machine, they'd go back in time to fuck their younger selves. Of course. the idea of self-cest creeped me out before reading this verse, and it completely changed my mind. Plus, it's one of my favourite killjoy!Au's.

9. Working for Joy on Overtimeciel_vert and  theopteryx

Frank is a top player in the music industry, once the champion of the underdog, now responsible for manufactured pop on the radio. He's in Los Angeles for the biggest label showcase of the year when his star band turns supernova and completely implodes (possibly taking his job along with them). Frank's got no time and no options, but he does have a little bit of luck left in the form of a chance encounter with Hollywood Boulevard's own Gerard Way. But what happens when he mixes pleasure with business? A Pretty Woman AU.

I like this story more than I like Pretty Woman. Seriously, it's better than the film. It has everything good about Pretty Woman, but changes the things that i found weak in the film. It's a must read. Plus, it has Jared Leto in it. That alone should make you want to read it.

8. Anatomy of a Fallnovembersmith

The unholy union of a high school AU and a ghost story. Gerard's life takes a strange turn when his family moves to a small town in Vermont and he discovers the locals aren't all what they seem to be. Also includes: unexpected nature walks, murder, pining, improper treatment of crime scenes, a number of bone-related puns, high school bullies, and a short-range shrub named Ferdinand.

I'm sure everyone has already read this fic - but if you haven't, go do it, now. Although maybe not all in one go, like I did. It took me hours and hours to get through. Everything about this story is absolute genius.

7. Thing-thing sinsense

When Gerard signed the admissions paperwork for the Fordhaven School for Boys, he knew he was signing up for four years of sexual frustration. No one was gay at Fordhaven. Gerard was all-too-aware that he would be a virgin until he graduated. In his senior year, though, this stupid gay freshman disproves Fordhaven's straightness, and throws Gerard's entire world off-kilter.

Now, in between drawing, avoiding bullies, running an incredibly serious tabletop RP game, failing out of math, and hanging out with friends, Gerard is also busy kind of falling for this asshole who's way too young for him. It's not what he planned on, but it's what's happening. In conclusion: high school sucks.

This fic is laugh out loud funny, yet also really sad and angsty. the best combination, really. I think that this Gerard is probably really similar to RL Gerard in high school - although RL Gerard had no Frank to make things better :( If you haven't read this, then you're missing out.

6. Deadly Masqueraderhymer

The year is 1792, and the mysterious Black Parade has become famous for saving people from the guillotine. Frank, an idealistic revolutionary, has been recruited by Korse to uncover the secret identities of the notorious Black Parade. What he discovers will change his life.

This is one of the cleverest fics I've ever read. The transition from Black Parade to killjoys is so well done - and how someone managed to combined the Black Parade world, the Killjoy world, and stick it in a historical AU I don't know - but this is it, and it's pretty much one of the best things I've ever read.

5. You Only Hear the Music When Your Hear Begins to Breaksolarcat05

Frank has high school figured out. His mom has given up arguing about the amount of time he spends in Gerard's basement, and he doesn't actually care if people think it's weird that he and Gerard hold hands in the hallways and go to the bathroom together. The only thing Frank cares about is figuring out why Gerard's suddenly avoiding him -- because what's the point of losing your virginity on Prom Night if you can't tell your best friend about it in the morning?

This is the sequel to a kid!fic where Gerard has a disease that means he can't go out in the sun, and both fics are amazing. I love how oblivious Frank is to how in love with him Gerard is. I wish there was more in this verse, it's one of my favourites.

4. Conclusions -   bexless

A bafflingly long-winded, cosy domestic world of fluff! In this universe, MCR never existed. Gerard threw himself into art instead of music after 9/11, Frank owns an indie record label, and Ray is a studio musician.

This is my ultimate go to fic whenever I'm sad, or just in general need cheering up. I can picture everything in my head as I'm readng it - it needs to be a film! - and it contains my favourite ever love confession.

3. Run -    mrsronweasley

Being a secret teenage werewolf is hard. Frank should know. He is one.

The relationship between Frank and Gerard in this fic is probably one of my favourite ever. And this is probably my favourite werewolf!AU. If you haven't read this, then do so immediately. it's amazing.

2. Forever Now -   passe_simple

Gerard and Mikey have lost their parents, but they've found Brian.

I love this fic so much, I've made my RL not-into-bandom friends read it. I love everything about it - Brain's pov is so poignant, you really go through the development of his relationship with the Ways with him. And okay, this is really more pre-slash than Frerard, but it has to go on my list. It the only fic out there that has made me cry happy tears. I do not cry happy tears. But this fic made me do it.

1. Unholyverse bexless

Gerard is a priest. Stuff happens.

I know, I know, I'm such a cliche putting the Unholyverse as number one on my list, but seriously, it's one of the best verses in bandom. Fact. I'd only been in bandom for about a month when I read the first one, and that was when I knew i was here for the long run. The verse is just incredible - all the relationships and he drama and the pining and.. gahh. I could ramble on for pages about why the Unholyverse will always be my number one Frank/Gerard, but it will bore you, so I won't. Basically, if there's anyone out there who hasn't read it, you need to. Now.

So, there is it! I hope there's something new on there that you haven't read, or you'll have scrolled through all that for nothing. Anyway, that took so much longer than I thought it would, and I feel like I've strangely satisfied now that I've finished it :L

Oh, man.

Anatomy of a Fall is probably one of my favorite MCR fics in history and anything by slashxyouxup is just brilliant. I've been reading her fics since WAY back in the quizilla days when she was writing het fics and then merged into slash!

One of hers was the first fanfic I ever read.

Ahh, nostalgia!

Thanks for this list!

I know, right? It's one of those fics that will go down in Bandom history :)

And yeaah, I'm such a big fan of her work - I could have put anything by her on here, but I needed to stick to 50 :P and I didn't know she used to write het! Aha.

It's no problem, glad it made you nostalgic :)

Ohh that's cool - so does that mean you haven't read many of these? This is a good starting list, although there's so much more great stuff out there :) I hope you enjoy reading them!

Ooh yey, I'm glad there are some you haven't read :) I wanted to put the obvious ones on there too though, just in case there were people who haven't read them :P

And it's no problem, it was fun!

Thank you for this, nice to see lots of old favourites I haven't read in forever (and should) and also a few I've never read. Not sure how THAT happened. The only one missing that I'd definitely rec to a newbie is The Dove Keeper and it's newly published epilogue; but this is still one of the best fic rec lists I've ever seen! <3
Dec. 13th, 2011 10:12 pm (UTC)
I've already read two of them since I posted this - talking about them made me want to read them again, aha. And that's why I love rec lists so much, you often stumble across something that you haven't read before :D I hope you enjoy anything new on here!

And yeah, I contemplated reccing the Dove Keeper.. I think the reason I didn't was that I own the published copy, with the changed names, so in my head I don't really count it as fan fiction anymore, if that makes sense? Of course though, it's something everyone should try reading, if they haven't already :)

I just finished Three Cheers For Tyranny so I'm a little teary (sniff) but I totally agree re TDK not being fanfic anymore once you read it as Thomas & Bernard.
I read the epilogue as soon as it was posted though, so right now they're back to being Frank and Gerard in my head, at least for a while.
By the way - putting Unholyverse as your No.1 is NEVER a cliche <3

Oh man, I only ever read that fic once because it upset me so much - but when something can affect you that much it means it's good! And yeah, the epilogue mixed up Frank and Gerard and Thomas and Bernard in my head :L I'm glad they're still being posted online though. Apparently there's going to be a sequel too?

I could go on for DAYS about everything I love about the Unholyverse <3 I couldn't NOT put it first!

So many great fics on this list! LOVE IT!

Wow... way to distract a girl!! I've read a lot of these, but this list will definitely keep my busy over summer!
Dec. 15th, 2011 07:36 am (UTC)
Ahaha, that's good! By the way, it's my last week of term and everything's been so busy, so I haven't read division V of Brave yet. I want to do it when I have lots of time so I can take it all in and reply properly :)
Dec. 15th, 2011 07:52 am (UTC)
:D No worries, we were fairly certain you hadn't abandoned us anyway. And thanks for wanting to put some time aside for Brave!

I've got 3 days of term left (I'm training to be a teacher at a primary school, so spending all my time in classrooms at the moment) and can't believe how much there is to do before the holidays!

Thanks for this!
There are some on here I've been meaning to read for ages but not got around to it and forgotten to bookmark them (Like The Anatomy of a Fall), so this is incredibly handy! :D
I've read The Unholyverse, Something Better (I love ChloJo!), Forever, Now and its sequels, but I think that's all I've read! So this is going to be fun to read/work my way through.

No problem! After you've read Anatomy of a Fall (it is AMAZING, you will LOVE it) I'd start with Run. I could go on for days about everything I love about it :L
Hope you enjoy all the reading! <3
Dec. 19th, 2011 02:59 pm (UTC)
Ooh thank you!
I kinda like fics about werewolves and mysterious things (I'd say vampires, but it sounds like I'm in love with Twilight! I do like vampires, though.) so that shall be fun to read!
I definitely will have fun reading them!

Seriously, after I made the list I had the biggest urge to reread them all! I'm just glad people will use actually use it :)

And it's no problem, I absolutely love that fic, I must have reread it about five times since it was posted :L
